Dr. Gregory Possehl, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania joined the department in 1973 upon receiving his doctorate from the University of Chicago.

He acted as chair from 1994 to 2001. His contributions to the field of archaeology are prolific and notable, including his projects at Quetta and Allahdinho in Pakistan; Oriyo Timbo, Rojdi, Babar Kot and Gilund in India, and Bat in Oman.
